Thailand eSIM Guide: Which Plan to Choose (2026)

Planning a trip to Thailand and wondering which eSIM to buy? VOYA has three Thailand eSIM plans. They differ in trip length, how much high-speed data you get, and whether you can use the same eSIM in Singapore and Malaysia. This guide explains the differences so you can choose in a minute.

Quick pick

Your trip Plan Why
4–10 days in Thailand only Thailand eSIM – 4~10 Days Limited-time upgrade until Dec 31, 2026: 35GB high-speed for 4–6 days, no data cap for 7–10 days
Thailand plus Singapore or Malaysia, or up to 30 days Thailand eSIM – 1~30 Days One eSIM for 3 countries, no daily high-speed cap
8 or 10 days on TrueMove 5G Thailand eSIM 5G Ultra (TrueMove) 8 Days: full 5G speed with no throttling

1. Thailand eSIM – 4~10 Days

Choose from 4 to 10 days. Until December 31, 2026 the carrier is running an upgrade:

  • 4–6 days: high-speed data upgraded from 15GB to 35GB (about 5GB a day).
  • 7–10 days: full high speed with no data cap during the promotion.

After the promotion ends, plans return to their normal allowance, and speeds may be reduced once the high-speed allowance is used. Check the terms of the option you select on the product page before you buy.

2. Thailand eSIM – 1~30 Days (also works in Singapore and Malaysia)

Available for 1–10, 12, 15, 20, 25 or 30 days. The same eSIM covers Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, which is handy for a multi-country trip in Southeast Asia. The plan has no daily high-speed cap, so you stay on high-speed data for the whole plan period.

3. Thailand eSIM 5G Ultra (TrueMove)

Runs on the TrueMove network, with 8-day and 10-day options:

  • 8 days: unlimited data at full 5G speed, with no throttling.
  • 10 days: normally 50GB of high-speed data, then 384kbps. During the carrier promotion (until December 31, 2026) it stays at high speed for the whole trip.

How much data do you need?

A typical traveler uses about 2GB a day for maps, messaging, social media and ride-hailing apps. If you stream video or share your connection with a laptop, choose a plan with no data cap or a larger high-speed allowance.

How to set up your Thailand eSIM

  1. Check your phone. It must support eSIM and be unlocked (not tied to one carrier).
  2. Buy and get your QR code by email. The email also includes the setup instructions for your plan.
  3. Read the activation instructions before installing. Some plans start counting days as soon as the eSIM is installed, so follow the instructions in your order email to decide when to install.
  4. Install with a Wi-Fi connection. Scan the QR code from your phone's mobile/cellular settings.
  5. On arrival, select the VOYA eSIM for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for it. Allow a few minutes for it to connect.

FAQ

Can I keep my home SIM in my phone?
Yes. You choose which line is used for mobile data. Whether your home number can still receive calls and texts abroad, and what that costs, depends on your home carrier.

Do these plans include a Thai phone number?
The plans are sold for mobile data. If you need a local number, calls or SMS, check the product page of the option you want before buying.

Can I delete the eSIM after my trip?
Keep it installed while you still need the plan – an eSIM can usually be installed only once, so deleting it early may mean you cannot use the remaining days.

What if it doesn't connect?
Check that the VOYA eSIM is selected for mobile data and that Data Roaming is on, then wait a few minutes. If it still doesn't work, connect to Wi-Fi and contact us on WhatsApp with the error you see.
